And much more

Craniosacral Therapy - (CST) Is a noninvasive type of bodywork that relieves compression in the bones of the head, sacrum (a triangular bone in the lower back), and spinal column while focusing on creating harmony in the nervous system for improved wellbeing, muscle function, and pain relief. CST uses a light touch to examine membranes and movement of fluids in and around the central nervous system. Craniosacral therapy was developed by osteopath Dr. John Upledger in the late 1970’s. His technique is now used all over the world.
What sets Craniosacral therapy apart from other healing modalities is that it is based on light touch- many times no more than 5 grams. While assessing the cranial rhythm (the flow of cerebral spinal fluid that moves up and down the spine) the practitioner can treat holding patterns anywhere in the body. That also includes the cranial bones and the mouth. It uses gentle pressure on the head, neck, and back to relieve the stress and pain caused by compression.

CST also works with TMJ and mouth problems, such a teeth grinding, mouth surgery recovery, and TMJ syndrome. Using very light touch, the practitioner gloves up and helps the inner workings of the mouth to release tension and restore a more functional balance to the jaw.

It’s thought that through the gentle manipulation of the bones in the skull, spine, and pelvis, the flow of cerebrospinal fluid in the central nervous system can be normalized. This removes “blockages” from the normal flow, which enhances the body’s ability to heal. It is a gentle hands-on treatment that may provide relief from a variety of symptoms such as:

-
Temporomandibular Joint Syndrome (TMJ) and Dental Challenges
-
Chronic Fatigue
-
Post-Surgical Dysfunction

Kinetic Chain Release - (KCR) medically and scientifically approved gentle mobilizations and stretches developed by Scottish Physiotherapist Hugh Gilbert. The KCR protocol quickly brings bodies back into balance, alleviating problems such as weak ankles, knee problems, hip and joint pain, pelvic discomforts, back, shoulder and neck pain, TMJ, and headaches. The rapid, restorative effects of bringing the body back into balance quickly restores energy levels.
When you come to us for a treatment, we check for a leg length difference which is exactly what it says, a difference in the length of your legs based on a muscular pull rather than a bone length difference. A leg length difference can result in each part of your body being out of balance or alignment. If your legs are different lengths, it can affect your ankles, knees, hips, back, shoulders all the way up to your jaw. This is important because it instantly allows us to see if your body is in alignment.

Body alignment refers to how your body lines up from the head down to the ankles. If your body is in alignment, there is a decrease in the risk of injury, and it works more efficiently. There can be many reasons we may be out of alignment, including poor posture or injury.
Through Kinetic Chain Release, we aim to bring your body back into alignment/ balance and correct a leg length difference. Bodywork techniques such as Kinetic Chan Release can be combined with Gait and Posture Analysis. What is meant by gait analysis? Gait analysis is an observation and assessment of the way the body moves, usually by walking, from one place to another. The purpose of gait analysis is to detect any abnormalities in locomotion.

Manual Lymph Drainage - (MLD), is a technique developed by the Vodders (Dr. Emil Vodder and his wife, Estrid) in 1936 in Paris for treatment of swollen lymph nodes. Lymphatic diseases, especially lymphedema, represent a serious problem in the health community.
MLD is a light, skin-stretching massage that helps promote the movement of lymphatic fluid out of the swollen limb. It should not be confused with a traditional massage. MLD is specifically focused on the lymph vessels to help the flow of lymphatic fluid.
Therapy is applied to your unaffected areas first, making it possible for the fluid to move out of the affected area, or “decongest” the region. MLD helps open the remaining functioning lymph collectors and move protein and fluid into them, as well as to help speed up lymph fluid flow through the lymphatic system.

Hypnotherapy - or hypnosis, is a state of deep relaxation and focused concentration combined with inner awareness. Using guided imagery and progressive relaxation techniques, hypnosis is used to access distinct parts of the mind where you can create change in awe-inspiring ways. You’re not asleep, but are inwardly focused, much like the relaxed sensation you experience before you drift off to sleep.. It’s a type of mind-body medicine.

The hypnotherapist guides you into this deep state of focus and relaxation with verbal cues, repetition, and imagery. When you’re under hypnosis, this intense level of concentration and focus allows you to ignore ordinary distractions and be more open to guided suggestions to make changes to improve your health.

Is Hypnosis safe?
Hypnosis is highly effective, drug-free, pain-free, expedient and cost-effective. Currently hypnosis is used for a wide variety of purposes, from pain management, fears, phobias and skill improvement to spiritual discovery.

*A doctor’s referral is required for certain medical conditions. If you have certain medical problems, are actively abusing drugs or alcohol, are delusional or hallucinatory, you should seek more appropriate treatment.*

How does hypnosis work?
How hypnosis works isn’t completely understood. However, it’s commonly believed that in the deep state of focus and relaxation that’s achieved with hypnosis:

Your conscious mind is quieted. You’re able to tap into the part of your brain where your thoughts, beliefs, perceptions, sensations, emotions, memory, and behaviors originate. In this state, you’re more open to gentle guidance from your hypnotherapist to help you modify or replace the unconscious thoughts that are driving your current behavior.

In the movies, hypnosis is often portrayed as a control tactic — to get people to commit crimes or fall in love, for instance. Hypnotists are often also seen as wacky magicians who put people on stage and get them to neigh when they hear the word “horse.”

The way hypnosis is shown in the media may make it seem like it’s just for fun, but there’s more to hypnosis than its entertainment factor. In fact, hypnosis can benefit your health and well-being in many ways by helping you experience changes in sensations, perceptions, thoughts, or behaviors.

Reiki (from Reiki.org) - a Japanese technique for stress reduction and relaxation that also promotes healing. It is administered by "laying on hands" and is based on the idea that an unseen "life force energy" flows through us and is what causes us to be alive. If one's "life force energy" is low, then we are more likely to get sick or feel stress, and if it is high, we are more capable of being happy and healthy.
The word Reiki is made of two Japanese words - Rei which means "God's Wisdom or the Higher Power" and Ki which is "life force energy". So Reiki is actually "spiritually guided life force energy."

A treatment feels like a wonderful glowing radiance that flows through and around you. Reiki treats the whole person including body, emotions, mind and spirit creating many beneficial effects that include relaxation and feelings of peace, security and wellbeing. Many have reported miraculous results.

Reiki is a simple, natural and safe method of spiritual healing and self-improvement that everyone can use. It has been effective in helping virtually every known illness and malady and always creates a beneficial effect. It also works in conjunction with all other medical or therapeutic techniques to relieve side effects and promote recovery.

An amazingly simple technique to learn, the ability to use Reiki is not taught in the usual sense, but is transferred to the student during a Reiki class. This ability is passed on during an "attunement" given by a Reiki master and allows the student to tap into an unlimited supply of "life force energy" to improve one's health and enhance the quality of life.

Its use is not dependent on one's intellectual capacity or spiritual development and therefore is available to everyone. It has been successfully taught to thousands of people of all ages and backgrounds.

While Reiki is spiritual in nature, it is not a religion. It has no dogma, and there is nothing you must believe in order to learn and use Reiki. In fact, Reiki is not dependent on belief at all and will work whether you believe in it or not. Because Reiki comes from God, many people find that using Reiki puts them more in touch with the experience of their religion rather than having only an intellectual concept of it.

While Reiki is not a religion, it is still important to live and act in a way that promotes harmony with others. Mikao Usui, the founder of the Reiki system of natural healing, recommended that one practice certain simple ethical ideals to promote peace and harmony, which are nearly universal across all cultures.

During a meditation several years after developing Reiki, Mikao Usui decided to add the Reiki Ideals to the practice of Reiki. The Ideals came in part from the five prinicples of the Meiji emperor of Japan whom Mikao Usui admired.
The Ideals were developed to add spiritual balance to Usui Reiki. Their purpose is to help people realize that healing the spirit by consciously deciding to improve oneself is a necessary part of the Reiki healing experience.
In order for the Reiki healing energies to have lasting results, the client must accept responsibility for her or his healing and take an active part in it. Therefore, the Usui system of Reiki is more than the use of the Reiki energy. It must also include an active commitment to improve oneself in order for it to be a complete system. The ideals are both guidelines for living a gracious life and virtues worthy of practice for their inherent value.
